Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions buyers most often ask about our multi layer laminated glass.
What is multi layer laminated glass used for?
It is used where ordinary laminated glass is not enough: bullet resistant and anti-burglary glazing for banks, embassies and jewelry stores, hurricane impact windows, glass floors and stairs, and acoustic glazing for high noise environments.
How is bullet resistant glass rated?
Bullet resistance is classified by standards such as EN 1063 (BR1 to BR7) or UL 752. The higher the class, the more glass and interlayer layers are needed. Tell us the class your project requires and we will propose a matching build-up.
How heavy is multi layer laminated glass?
Glass weighs about 2.5 kg per square meter for every millimeter of thickness, so a 40mm laminated panel weighs roughly 100 kg/m². The frame, hardware and installation method must be designed for this weight.
How much noise reduction can it provide?
Multi layer laminated glass with acoustic interlayers can reduce noise by up to 45dB. It is often used for hotel rooms, recording studios and buildings near airports, highways and railways.
Should I choose PVB or SGP interlayers?
PVB offers good acoustic damping and is cost effective. SGP is stiffer and stronger, keeps the glass in place after breakage and is preferred for structural uses such as glass floors, stairs and hurricane glazing. Both can be combined in one build-up.
